An exploration of UK housing and an in depth look at future housing innovations
Led by Claire Hoggan and assisted by Jonathan Ashe
The trip was invited to The Royal Institute of British Architects to have a tour around the building but also get a closer look at their new exhibition on British housing.
The exhibition focused on the three most common building types: Cottages, Terraces and Flats, showing their development through time. The exhibition also compliments historian Dan Cruikshank in his latest BBC program 'At Home With The British.' You can find the series here on BBC iPlayer.
After a detailed look at the exhibition members used iPads to sketch and recreate sections of the exhibition that inspired them. Below are some photos from the tour accompanied with a slideshow. It features work members created throughout the morning.

A workshop using collage on clear plastic to recreate Scottish landscape
A workshop using collage on clear plastic to recreate Scottish landscape
Led by Elizabeth Goldrick and assisted by Jonathan Ashe.
The trip was invited to the Queen's Gallery, (situated behind Buckingham Palace) to sample their exhibition featuring Scottish artists from 1750 - 1900.
The group specifically focused on the creation of Scottish landscapes and were told to explore the exhibition and sketch parts of the exhibit that they found interesting.
We were also told to pay particular attention to the amount of detail and depth of tone within the pieces.
During the workshop, members traced landscapes onto sheets of clear plastic and then built up colour from behind, using PVA glue and tissue paper.
Below are some pictures from the day.
