MeMORIES OF THE tHAMES AT wESTMINSTER bOATING bASE
On Wednesday the 27th of July, Openage teamed up with The Westminster Boating Base to put on a day of dedication to the river Thames and the memories that have been formed along side it. Creative writing tutor Julie Garton spent several weeks going around the South Westminster area, interviewing various people within the Openage family and beyond. We used this brilliant resource to then set up an exhibition devoted to the memories of the river and the experiences held within it. This included performed readings, a presentation of artifacts from the river and audio visual entertainment.
To coincide with the project we were also able to have a boat trip for members and organise a tea dance in the main room over-looking the river. The project gave us a wealth of material and we hope that it gave some idea of the fascinating lives people have lived along the river.
